To celebrate the opening of the Silvertown Tunnel, TfL is making several crossriver bus routes completely free to use even if you dont actually cross the Thames
The Silvertown Tunnel, Londons first new road tunnel under the Thames in 30 years, has been in the works since 2012. After more than a decade, its finally opening on April 7, connecting Newham and the Greenwich Peninsula.
A few London bus routes are going to be free for an entire year. Once the Silvertown Tunnel opens in April, youll be able to hop on the shiny new Superloop SL4 and the 129 routes without spending a penny and not just the bits that go through the tunnel. The whole route will be free for 12 months.
TfL has also announced that the 108 route, which takes the Blackwall Tunnel, will be free for the year too. Handy for anyone heading to the O2 or travelling between North Greenwich and Lewisham
