Disabled people can get 10% off when they spend £25 or more at Morrisons online

Disabled households can save over £45 per month and £550 annually

The Morrisons discount is available through the disabled discount platform, Purpl

Morrisons has announced a partnership with the discount platform, Purpl, to provide exclusive online discounts to the disabled community in the UK.

The grocery chain will provide disabled customers with 10% off when they spend £25 or more on groceries online. The discount will aid the 16.1 million people or 24% of Brits who currently live with a disability.

To access the exclusive discount, customers need to sign up for the free discount platform, Purpl, and verify their disability status with accepted documentation such as PIP, DLA, Blue Badge, Disabled Bus Pass, Disabled Persons Railcard and Access Card. Members can be verified by Purpl within an hour and their discount code can be applied online on the Morrisons.com checkout page.

Morrisons online customers can opt to have their shopping delivered straight to their home on the same day, or place an order up to four weeks in advance for either a home delivery or Click Collect slot. Alternatively, they can choose a sameday Express or Click Collect service. Deliveries are made nationwide and the price of a delivery slot starts from £1.50.

The partnership with Purpl will start as a trial to validate the benefit to the disabled community across the UK. The discount can also be used alongside Morrisons loyalty card the More Card which gives customers access to even more exclusive discounts on a wide range of essentials and favourites as well as 5 More Card Points on every product they buy. Once a customer has saved 5,000 More Card Points, they will receive a Morrisons Fiver which can be redeemed on a future shop, instore or online.

As well as groceries and household items, customers are also able to order food for parties from the Food to Order service at Morrisons.com. Customers can either place a standalone order or include their Food To Order purchase alongside their regular grocery order.

In the UK, the average family of four spends £117 on groceries per week. With the exclusive 10% discount, disabled households could save about £11.70 per week, £46.40 per month, and £556.80 annually.

Charlotte Exell, Director of Online and Ability Lead for Morrisons, said Were delighted to be partnering with Purpl to help make Morrisons more accessible to customers living with a disability. We know from listening to our disabled customers that they often face a number of additional living expenses and so this trial will help lower the cost of their grocery bills.

Purpl was created in July 2024 by Georgina Colman, who lives with multiple sclerosis and ADHD. She created the platform to alleviate the additional living costs associated with disabilities. Scope estimates that on average, disabled households need an additional £1,010 a month, equivalent to £12,120 annually, to have the same standard of living as nondisabled households.

Georgina Colman, Founder of Purpl, said I am so proud that weve been able to partner with Morrisons to offer this discount. I know firsthand that living with a disability can be expensive so Im very pleased that we can help our members with something as essential as their weekly grocery shop. The process of getting dressed, going to a store, buying groceries, and taking them back home can take a lot of time and is often more expensive and physically straining for disabled people. By partnering with Morrisons, I hope we can make life easier and more affordable for the disabled community.

Along with discounts at Morrisons.com, Purpl members can enjoy deals on other brands like Hoover, Sky, Green People, Debenhams, and hundreds of others. The platform also provides advice and guidance for those living with a disability.

Available for home delivery in selected geographies.
