This savoury treat travelled with Central Asian traders across the Silk Road and has graced the tables of sultans and princes. It was mentioned by Moroccan traveller Ibn Batouta who was offered wafer thin pastry filled with mincemeat and peas at the table of Muhammad bin Jughlag in Delhi. One of the earliest recorded mention was discovered in the 11th C. book by Abul Fazl Beyhaqi Tarikhe Beyhaghi. The term also appears in 16th C. book of Delicacies Vi matnamah nasir al Din Shahi
